Released in October 1993 by Sony Records, Brian Walton’s RIAA Gold-certified debut album Made in the Shade is a contemporary country landmark. Co-produced with Hilmar Pauly and Mickey Lee Henke at Pauley Tonstudio in Giessen, Germany, the 9-track album features Walton on lead vocals, piano, and guitars. It includes Billboard-charting singles like “Life on the Farm,” “Traveling Band,” “Practical Man,” and the title track, which charted for 16 weeks. Its centerpiece, “You’re the One,” was recorded live with conductor Thomas Schmitt-Zijnen and the Frankfurt Rock Orchestra. Boasting five US and European chart-toppers and several 1-million-stream milestones, Made in the Shade merges honky-tonk energy, orchestral elegance, and country-rock appeal.
